| Christmas without the Christmas tree is like Thanksgiving without the traditional dish. Or like Halloween without the trick or treat. Or like the 4th of July without the fireworks. You get the idea. Given that we've already taught you how to make it snow in front of your eyes any time you want to, this time we are going to focus on the Christmas tree, with Christmas knocking on our doors. Luckily, there are a bunch of pretty cool facts about the Christmas tree I bet you didn't know! For instance, for every tree harvested, there are 3 more planted in its place. That leads to about 21 million trees grown annually in the U.S. - and the environment is smiling as you're reading this. Not to mention that each of the growing trees provides the daily oxygen required by 18 people. 
Still, figures are not that friendly with nature in the U.S. as they are in U.K. In U.K. households, 66.6% of the Christmas trees are artificial trees and only 33.3% are natural, whereas in U.S. households, only 58% are artificial trees, and 42% natural. Must be that authentic smell of Christmas people are after... and when they choose to buy a real tree, their #1 choice is the Fraser Fir, followed in popularity by the Douglas Fir and the Balsam Fir. Using electric lights on Christmas trees was first suggested by Edward Johnson in 1882. Edward Who? Edward Johnson, ladies, Thomas Edison's assistant, Mr. Edison being the American scientist and businessman we can all thank for inventing the light bulb. Bright apprentice Mr. Edison had! And if you want to see the tallest Christmas tree in U.S., go to Rockefeller Center. It's there, it's 23m tall and it's waiting for you to admire it. Or better yet, stay home and make sure your Santa finds out that the average number of presents a child in U.K. receives under the Christmas tree is... 16!
