In a recent study about the addiction to mobile phones, 1 in 2 respondents admitted to being addicted to their device, 83% of them being the owners of a mobile phone and 35% owning a smartphone. 26% use their phone while having a meal, and 22% while on the toilet. So what is it that people actually do with their phones that turns them into addictive devices? Well, it comes as no surprise, most of them use their phones for fun: 44% access the internet, 38% send and receive e-mails, while 23% use social networks. 73% send text messages and the same percent take photos with their phone, but out of the 73% that take photos, only 54% send or share them. And last but not least, when asked what they would give up for a week just so they can keep their phone, 22% said their significant other! And 20% answered that they were willing to go shoeless than phoneless for a week! But when it comes to guilty pleasures, the figures are even higher than that: 70% said alcohol, 63% said chocolate, 55% said coffee and 33% said sex.
